Austin T. Waugh serves as a corporate accountant for DeGolyer and MacNaughton. In that role, Waugh supports the Controller and Executive Management team in activities related to tax and financial compliance in the many jurisdictions in which D&M operates. Waugh also plays a key role in the monthly closing process and the preparation of the firm’s financial statements. Additionally, Waugh supports the human resources department in overseeing various aspects of employment, such as labor law compliance and employee benefit administration.

Waugh first worked with D&M from 2010 to 2014, performing economic analyses primarily for the Europe/Africa Division, developing economic models that assist in the evaluation of international oil and gas properties. Waugh performed economic analyses and petroleum asset valuations in a wide range of petroleum-producing regions including Italy, Egypt, Romania, Iraq, Kurdistan, Angola, Yemen, Vietnam, Nigeria, Norway, Denmark, United Kingdom, Libya, Tunisia, Congo, and Tanzania as well as Russia, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine.

From 2015 to 2016, Waugh worked as a tax accountant for Whitley Penn, LLP, where he consulted for clients in the middle market and prepared and reviewed federal and state income tax returns for various public and private entities. His primary concentration was in the oil and gas, financial services, real estate, and technology sectors.

Waugh graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in finance in 2010 and a bachelor’s degree in economics in 2011. He earned a master’s degree in accounting in 2014 and a Master of Business Administration in 2015 from the University of Texas at Dallas. Waugh is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He also serves on the Business and Industry and Legislative Affairs Committees of the Dallas CPA Society.
