Margo J. Liss originally joined DeGolyer and MacNaughton 1995, left the firm in 1998 to work for Schlumberger, then rejoined the firm in 2005. Across her career, she has gained experience in both production and exploration activities, having worked with leading petroleum industry consulting firms and with several major service and national and state oil companies and financial institutions. She is fluent in Spanish.

Liss completed a bachelor’s degree in earth and planetary sciences at Washington University in 1989. She earned a master’s degree in geological sciences from the University of Michigan in 1992. Liss is a member of the Geological Society of America, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Society of Petroleum Engineers, Dallas Geological Society, Petroleum Engineers Club of Dallas, the European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers, and the Texas Energy Council. She is a licensed professional geologist with the State of Texas and an AAPG-certified Petroleum Geologist. Liss was elected a Vice President at D&M in 2008.

Major Projects

Liss currently acts as senior geologist and coordinating geologist on numerous projects with assets located across Russia and the former Soviet states. An expert in reserves estimation, Liss has taught several seminars on the estimation of reserves and resources using international reserves guidelines. She has also developed geologic models of large oil and gas fields in Algeria and has conducted geological analyses of fields in Trinidad and Tobago, Myanmar, Australia, and Colombia.
