Vyacheslav V. Sabaev is a petroleum engineer with extensive experience in oil and gas production and field development optimization as well as in project economic analysis. Prior to joining DeGolyer and MacNaughton in 2015, he worked with one of the world’s largest petroleum corporations and with a consulting firm on a variety of international projects.

Sabaev received a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from Heriot-Watt University in 2003 and a doctorate in economics from Samara State Technical University in 2007. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Sabaev is a native Russian speaker and fluent in English.

Major Projects

For D&M, Sabaev has worked on production and field development projects in Kazakhstan, Russia, and Trinidad and Tobago. Since 2020, Sabaev has been coordinating large, multi-field, multidiscipline field development projects in Azerbaijan. He has comprehensive experience in using analytical reservoir engineering techniques and performing reservoir simulation. He is proficient in multiple industry software packages.

Between 2008 and 2010, Sabaev was a production manager accountable for the operational performance of business units in Western Siberia, Russia. Key achievements include significant production increases due to the implementation of a recompletion and production stimulation program (fracturing and acidizing).
