Since joining DeGolyer and MacNaughton in 1997, Stephen Chitwood has constructed geologic models and performed reservoir analyses on carbonate and clastic reservoirs in numerous areas around the globe. For 17 years prior to his association with D&M, Chitwood worked with Oryx Energy Co. (formerly Sun E&P Co.) in Dallas, Texas.

Chitwood is a certified geologist in Texas and a member of the Dallas Geological Society and American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He received a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1977. He was elected a Vice President at D&M in 2000.

  • Evaluated reserves of major fields around the Pri-Caspian Basin in Russia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan.

  • Completed evaluations in the Cooper Basin and has performed evaluations offshore in the Browse Basin.
  • Completed major evaluation projects in the Gulf of Mexico and continues to work with these clients.
