The Information Technology (IT) Manager’s role is to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT department in alignment with the international oil and gas business objectives of the organization. The IT manager will plan, coordinate, direct and design IT-related activities of the organization, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT department. The IT manager will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. The IT manager will also define and implement IT policies, procedures and best practices.


  • Be part of an international oil and gas consulting company.
  • Lead the IT department’s operational and strategic planning, fostering innovation, planning projects and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation and disciplinary actions.
  • Key activities include working closely with all IT staff to ensure support for all staff and clients.
  • Supervise and provide training for IT staff to deliver exceptional support, promote process improvement, coach for success, and support the day-to-day team activities.
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems, including telecommunications, servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals and Office Automation equipment.
  • Responsible for creation, maintaining, and documenting an IT knowledge base.
  • Benchmark, analyze, report on and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
  • Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
  • Keep current with the latest technologies.
  • Define and supervise upgrade/project/support activities with staff and remote locations.
  • Work with other supervisors, managers, directors and departments in problem-solving and coordinating interdependent activities.
  • Direct team to accomplish multiple groups of tasks.
  • Assist in the testing and implementation of new systems including performing post installation reviews and feedback.
  • Manage financial aspects of the IT department, including purchasing, budgeting and budget review.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing and service provision.
  • Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer and consultant contracts and service agreements.
  • Practice asset management for IT hardware, software and equipment.
  • Responsible for directing Big Data initiative.
  • Work closely to design, construct, implement, and manage the project.
  • Work with programmers and database architects to define and build short and long term integration platform capabilities and provide roadmaps to the different integration strategies.
  • Work with IT, company staff, and third party vendors in managing the overall direction and implementation of the work stream and application.
  • Manage internal and external teams to ensure appropriate design, build, and roll out of platform and service stability, data quality, and controls with ongoing future growth and development.
  • Capabilities:

  • Experienced IT Manager, programmer, and database manager with wide ranging skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple disciplines, departments, and locations.
  • Strong understanding of databases and analytical tools.
  • Must work effectively in a team environment with demonstrated skills innovating to solve complex problems and have knowledge of essential team management and leadership skills.
  • Must be fully self-directed knowing when to escalate to management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are critical.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment required.
  • Dedicated to completion of projects and the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Good organizational, oral and written communication skills (English).
  • Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
  • Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with minimum of 8 years industry experience in comparable role; oil and gas experience preferred.
  • Must have a minimum 3 years supervisory/leadership/project management experience.
  • Experience in oil and gas industry software platforms a plus.
  • Some domestic and international travel required.
  • U.S. work authorization required.
