Senior Engineer (Dallas, TX)
DeGolyer and MacNaughton (D&M) is seeking a Senior Engineer to improve oil and gas extraction and production by global teams leveraging knowledge of hydrocarbon reservoir evaluation processes, techniques, reporting procedures, and best practices to support assigned projects.
Responsibilities
- Devise methods to improve the evaluation of oil and gas reservoirs to estimate reserves, and evaluate petroleum reservoir fluid properties applying principles of fluid flow through porous media;
- Manage and coordinate projects (e.g., reserves/resources, technical studies), including taking a lead role in projects involving complex situations and ensuring that timelines are met and issues are resolved;
- Analyze data pertaining to rock properties and estimate the recovery of hydrocarbons from subsurface reservoirs;
- Review client-supplied technical data from fields and reservoirs, and prepare and analyze production performance curves;
- Develop, organize, and contribute to internal efforts on data analytics, efficiency and quality control improvements, benchmarking, research, new application development;
- Work with personnel to implement these solutions;
- Develop strategies to develop new business and advance networking opportunities;
- Assess project costs and estimate production capabilities;
- Monitor production rates and plan workover processes to improve production;
- Provide economic analysis of forecasted oil and gas production, with consideration for taxation issues;
- Analyze data to recommend processes to enhance production for assigned projects and regions;
- Develop plans for oil and gas field development and for hydrocarbon recovery and treatment;
- Determine and incorporate components of a volumetric estimate of petroleum in place and recoverable quantities, including reservoir fluid properties, petrophysical parameters, and volumetric rock volume analysis;
- Collaborate with Geophysicists, Petrophysicist, and Geologists;
- Contribute technical input on hydrocarbon reservoir evaluation projects to facilitate progress and success;
- Perform economic modeling and analysis of future production streams through cash flow analysis and the time value of money;
- Conduct quality control checks, verify accuracy of cash flows, and perform quality control of detailed production, pricing, and cost inputs; and
- Mentor and review the work of junior engineers to help them advance their skills and provide them directions to ensure that the quality of their work is accurate and consistent. Multiple openings.
Job Requirements:
- Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, or a related engineering field;
- One (1) year of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
One (1) year of experience in each of the following: Petroleum engineering including geology, geophysics, petrophysics, and production engineering; Principles of simulation modeling for hydrocarbon reservoirs and the optimization of field development; Implementing hydrocarbon reservoir evaluations using modeling and appraisal techniques for large-scale projects, and documenting procedures for field development plans; Reservoir characterization, evaluation of water-flood projects, and estimation and certification of hydrocarbon volumes; Well testing procedures, including methods for evaluating and validating data from well test reports and developing, appraising, and exploring wells; Evaluating and validating data from well test reports and testing procedures for development, appraisal, and exploration of wells; Constructing reservoir models, calibrating these models to historical data, forecasting the future field evaluation of hydrocarbon reserves, and reporting results to stakeholders; and Coordinating petroleum-engineering projects across multi-disciplinary and multi-national teams
