Yury A. Karpov joined DeGolyer and MacNaughton’s Moscow office as a geologist in 2020, specializing in petroleum studies and reserves evaluations based on geologic, geophysical, petrophysical, and field engineering data. Prior to joining D&M, he worked as a geologist for the Russian academic research organization National Intellectual Development Foundation. At Lomonosov Moscow State University, he was a post-graduate research fellow specializing on the geology and geochemistry of the West Siberia unconventional Bazhenov Formation.

Karpov graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University with master’s degree in fossil fuels geology and geochemistry in 2016. He has co-authored publications on the geology and geochemistry of the West Siberia unconventional Bazhenov Formation. Karpov’s native language is Russian, he is fluent in English, and he has intermediate knowledge of German.

Major Projects

Karpov has completed geologic evaluations of oil and gas reserves for a number of fields located in Russia and the CIS. He has participated in multi-disciplinary teams to evaluate reserves in accordance with the PRMS and SEC regulations for several oil companies.
