Nathan C. Baumgartner joined DeGolyer and MacNaughton in 2024 as an engineer in the North America Division. Prior to joining D&M, he worked as a reservoir engineer at Moyes & Company.

Baumgartner earned his bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2018. In December 2022, he earned his master’s degree in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University. His research primarily focused on production forecasting in unconventional reservoirs. Baumgartner is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Major Projects

Baumgartner’s work has been focused on working with PHDWin to generate production forecasts for unconventional resources by coupling decline-curve analysis with well performance diagnostics.

Prior to joining D&M, he provided reservoir engineering support for Moyes & Company’s technical and commercial advisory services primarily serving clients in the upstream international oil and gas industry. As part of this work, he prepared fair market valuations of upstream oil and gas assets for international arbitrations, United States bankruptcy proceedings, and corporate portfolio management purposes. He played a key role in support of expert witness testimony related to the topics of the proper application of the PRMS, valuation of upstream oil and gas assets, reservoir management, field development planning, and production forecasting. Further, he has conducted numerous reserves and resources evaluations in accordance with the SEC and PRMS.
