Matthew R. Kendall joined DeGolyer and MacNaughton in 2012. Prior to joining D&M, Kendall worked at the University of Oklahoma as both a research and teaching assistant. As a research assistant, Kendall helped manage the powder X-ray diffraction division of the Devon Energy NanoLab, where he focused on quantifying the clay component of shale and other samples.

Kendall received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geology in 2010 and 2012, respectively, from the University of Oklahoma, and is currently a member of the University of Oklahoma’s School of Geology and Geophysics Alumni Advisory Council. He is a member of the Dallas Geologic Society, the Geological Society of America, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Society of Petroleum Engineers, and Society of Petrophysicist and Well Log Analysts. He was named a Vice President of D&M in 2022.

Major Projects

Kendall is a project geologist assigned to the North America Division. He serves as a coordinating geologist on numerous projects with assets located across the United States and Canada. He has experience calculating reservoir volumes, using mapping programs to develop and utilize geologic models, and managing data. He is also proficient at traditional geologic practices, including reservoir description, log correlation, and cross-section construction, as well as various mapping methods.

Kendall has completed reserves and resources evaluations on a number of projects in the Gulf of Mexico, the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, and on North Slope of Alaska. He has also worked extensively in the Amu Darya Basin of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to evaluate and develop overpressured gas reservoirs within a complex dual-porosity carbonate system. He has helped clients manage their portfolios as they transition from internally accepted reporting methods to internationally recognized standards.
