Twenty First Century Petroleum Statistics

Thank you for your interest in DeGolyer and MacNaughton’s TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY PETROLEUM STATISTICS, (known as TWENTIETH CENTURY PETROLEUM STATISTICS through the 72nd edition).

Through this link, you can obtain access to the 77th edition (published in 2023 using data through 2021), which is exclusively available online.  TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY PETROLEUM STATISTICS is an authoritative source of information that offers the utility of worldwide digital availability.

For your convenience, we have also provided a link to historical data prior to 1960, which is data not included in the compiled document.

The data and information contained in this document was initially prepared in 1945 by the office of the Director of Naval Petroleum and Oil Shale Reserves, Navy Department, Washington, D.C. The Director, Commodore W.G. Greenman, requested that DeGolyer and MacNaughton exclusively maintain the ‘handbook’ on an annual basis, since demand indicated that there was a practical need for such information. DeGolyer and MacNaughton have been publishing this ever since as a ready reference for industry colleagues, clients, researchers, libraries, and students.

We continue to look for opportunities to expanding the content, usability, and dynamic relevance of this one-of-a-kind publication series.  In the publication of the TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY PETROLEUM STATISTICS, we have made free use of information published by the American Petroleum Institute, the Oil and Gas Journal, World Oil magazine, the Energy Information Administration (EIA), and other public-domain sources from around the world. Sources are cited herein, and we greatly appreciate permission granted for the use of such data provided.
