Hugh W. Peace
Advisor Geologist, Vice President
Hugh W. Peace joined DeGolyer and MacNaughton in 1996 after working at Oryx Energy Company for 7 years. He has over 35 years of experience in the industry.
Peace has presented papers at local and regional society meetings. He was president of the Dallas Geological Society from 2005 to 2006, and is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). He was the Secretary of AAPG’s Southwest Section in 2024-2025 and its Vice President in 2025-2026. He is also a member of the Dallas and Houston geological societies. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, and the Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts. Peace received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geology in 1986 and 1989, respectively, from the University of Oklahoma, and was the chairman of the University of Oklahoma’s School of Geology and Geophysics Alumni Advisory Council in 2003. He is a licensed geologist in Texas and an AAPG Certified Petroleum Geologist. He was elected as a Vice President of D&M in 1999.

Major Projects
Since joining D&M, Peace has served as both a geological team member and geological team lead on projects worldwide with a focus on Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. He has been involved in several major LNG financing support projects in southern Africa. He led a large corporate defense project for a large European E&P company from 2011 to 2015 and was part of the D&M Saudi Aramco reserves evaluation team from 2015 through 2024.
