Dr. Kajari Ghosh joined DeGolyer and MacNaughton in 2017 as a geologist. Prior to joining D&M, she worked for Harvey Rock Physics, Chevron, and ExxonMobil. She also worked as a geology intern for Occidental Petroleum and BP and as a research associate for Pemex while working on her doctorate. She has 17 years of experience in the industry.

Ghosh received a bachelor’s degree in geology in 1999 from the University of Calcutta, a master’s degree in 2003 from Florida International University, and a doctorate in geology from the University of Oklahoma. Ghosh is a certified petroleum geologist and member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. She was named a Vice President of D&M in 2020.

Major Projects

Since arriving at D&M, Ghosh has focused primarily on the geological aspects of oil and gas field and reservoir studies. She carries knowledge in structural analysis, sequence stratigraphy, mapping, and the characterization of reservoirs containing gas, condensate, and oil. She has performed geological evaluations of carbonate reservoirs, clastic reservoirs, and unconventional resources.

Ghosh has experience calculating reservoir volumes using probabilistic methods for fields with limited data, developing and utilizing geologic models for deterministic volume estimates, and history matching. She has evaluated reservoirs in all types of depositional environments and basins. She is also proficient at traditional geologic practices, including seismic interpretation, reservoir description, log correlation, cross-section construction, core description, and various mapping methods.

Prior to joining D&M, Ghosh’s work ranged from seismic interpretation to reservoir characterization for development/appraisal projects and producing fields. She integrated geologic, petrophysical, and engineering data to build models. At Chevron, she was the subject matter expert for structural geology and worked on a variety of basins, including fractured carbonate fields in Kazakhstan. At ExxonMobil, she worked on multiple projects ranging from reservoir characterization of onshore carbonate fields in the UAE to crustal-scale seismic interpretation offshore Eastern India. She evaluated reservoirs to assist in ranking blocks for bid rounds, performed volumetric assessments for exploration projects, and upgraded completion intervals for producing fields.
