Major Projects

Richard specializes in completion evaluation, hydraulic fracture modeling, and DFIT analysis for D&M’s global client base. His project portfolio includes completion design and operation assessments across unconventional prospects in the Permian Basin, North Africa, the Sichuan Basin of China, and throughout the Middle East. He also provides drilling and completion analysis in support of due diligence evaluations, expert witness engagements, and EGS assessments.

While at Chesapeake, Richard led the design and operational execution of unconventional well completions in the Eagle Ford, Austin Chalk, and Niobrara Shale plays, overseeing all completion phases from rig release until first production. He directed around-the-clock field operations, both on location and in an on-call capacity, to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery. He also provided completion analysis and well-testing support for developments in the Haynesville and Marcellus Shales and the Anadarko Basin. Contributing to interdisciplinary teams of engineers and geoscientists, Richard helped optimize completion design and well spacing, evaluate completion impacts on well performance through diagnostics and design testing, and refine type curves for more reliable forecasting and capital planning. Key projects included integrated reservoir studies to aid in field development planning, wellbore integrity investigations to address casing collapse issues and identify refracture candidates, and new technology deployments to enhance safety and operational efficiency.

Beginning his career at Halliburton, Richard served as a well site engineer for hydraulic fracturing and coiled tubing operations across the midcontinental United States, Canada, and Oman. Partnering with service company and operator personnel, he ensured execution quality and resolved operational issues in real time. Over the course of nearly 1,000 days on location worldwide, he gained hands-on experience in the Woodford, Barnett, Fayetteville, Haynesville, Bakken, Montney, and Duvernay Shale plays in North America and the Miqrat, Barik, and Amin Formations in Oman.
