J. Hunter Lockhart
Hunter Lockhart joined DeGolyer and MacNaughton in 2018. Lockhart is practiced in classic geologic and geophysical sub-disciplines including sequence stratigraphy, seismic interpretation, reservoir characterization, and log analysis. Prior to joining D&M, he worked at BHP for 7 years. He has 15 years of experience in the industry.
He received a bachelor’s degree in geology from Texas A&M University in 2011 and a master’s degree in geology from Rice University in 2013. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Dallas Geological Society, and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, where he was Chairman of the Gulf Coast Section Young Professionals from 2015 to 2018 and is currently President-Elect of the Division of Professional Affairs. Lockhart is a Certified Petroleum Geologist, a Certified Petroleum Engineer, and a licensed geologist in Texas. He was made a Vice President of D&M in 2023.

Major Projects
Since joining D&M, Lockhart has spearheaded several high-profile international engagements involving critical energy infrastructure and national-level strategic initiatives.
He led technical due diligence for a major national oil company regarding a significant stake acquisition in a premier Australian LNG complex.
Lockhart supported the independent reserves evaluation for a premier national oil company in preparation for its historic initial public offering.
He served as the primary Lender’s Reserve Advisor for the development of a large-scale LNG project in Indonesia.
