Alvaro Betancourt joined DeGolyer and MacNaughton in 2017. Prior to joining D&M, Betancourt worked for Tecpetrol in both Argentina and Ecuador.

Betancourt earned a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the National Polytechnic School of Ecuador in 2012 and a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University in 2017. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Major Projects

Betancourt has worked with interdisciplinary teams to perform technical studies in different shale plays around the United States, including completion optimization, reservoir modeling, and well performance analysis and forecasting. He has evaluated reserves and contingent resources potential in the Vaca Muerta Shale in Argentina and other countries with low/ultra-low-permeability reservoirs.
